NLU Jodhpur is organising 9th CARTAL Conference on International Arbitration, 2025 on 22-23 March. The last date of submission is November 25. The overarching theme for the conference is Reconciling Tradition with Innovation: Future Proofing the Dispute Resolution Processes.

About IJAL

The Indian Journal of Arbitration Law (“IJAL”) combines arbitration theory with practical insights, featuring contributions from professionals, scholars, and students. While “Indian” reflects its origin, the journal focuses on globally relevant topics and covers a broad range of contemporary arbitration issues. It has also released theme-specific issues to explore specific developments in depth.

Eligibility

The Conference is open to Academicians, Practitioners, Professionals (such as In-house Counsels) Research Scholars, and Students of Law pursuing their Five-Year LL.B. (Hons.)/Three Year LL.B./LL.M. from any recognized university.

Theme

Individuals desiring to participate in the Conference are encouraged to bring a diverse perspective to the subject matter, while also considering a wide range of issues related to arbitration. The submissions should be contemporary and relevant, showcasing in- depth research and excellent scholarly standards. The themes for this year’s conference are as provided in the next page.

Fee

Only in-person participation would be permitted. Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of two (2) authors. In case of co-authorship, separate registration would be required for both authors.

Presenter:

  • Academicians/Practitioners/Professionals: INR 6000/- only (per person)

  • Students(Undergraduate/Postgraduate)/Ph.D. Research Scholars: INR 3000/- only (per person)

Non-Presenter:

  • Academicians/Practitioners/Professionals: INR 3000/- only (per person)

  • Students/Ph.D. Research Scholars: INR 2000/- (per person)

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Limit: Abstract: 300 words, Final Manuscripts: 7000 – 10,000 words

  • The word limit is exclusive of abstract and footnotes.

  • The manuscript must be original and an unpublished work.

  • Co-authorship of maximum two authors is allowed.

  • The manuscript must be in conformity with the Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st edition).

  • The Abstract/Manuscript must not contain any details or reference to the author’s name, affiliation or credentials.

  • The acceptable similarity limit is 10%, and that for AI usage is 30%. Manuscripts with similarity index and/or AI usage exceeding these thresholds will be outrightly rejected.

  • The Manuscript should be on A4-sized paper, in Garamond, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified and 1 inch margin on each side. Footnotes should be in Garamond, font size 10, and with single line spacing.

  • The manuscript must be contained in a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) document.

Important dates

  • 1st December, 2024: Last Date for Submission of the Abstracts for Preliminary selection process

  • 7th December, 2024: Releasing the Preliminary Shortlist of the Abstracts and Intimating the shortlisted Authors, regarding further shortlisting process.

  • 9th February, 2025: Last Date for Submission of the Extended Abstracts & Final Manuscripts, for the final shortlisting process

  • 28th February, 2025: Intimation of the results of the Final shortlisting process and intimating the Shortlisted Authors for completion of the Registration Process

  • 7th March, 2025 Closing Date for Registration Process

  • 22nd March – 23rd March, 2025: Conference Dates
