Professor Reisman is Myres S. McDougal Professor of International Law at Yale Law School where he has been on the Faculty since 1965. He has also been a visiting professor at universities in Basel, Berlin, Geneva, Hong Kong, Paris and Tokyo. He received his B.A from Johns Hopkins University (1960), his LL.B from Hebrew University (1963) and his LL.M (1964) and J.S.D (1965) from Yale University. Professor Reisman is one of the most noted names in the field of International Law, and has been elected to the Institut de Droit International. He is the Chairman of the Arbitral Tribunal of the Bank for International Settlements. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Policy Sciences Center, Inc., and a member of the Board of The Foreign Policy Association. He has also served as the Vice-President and Honorary Vice-President of the American Society of International Law and as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of International Law. He is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, former member of its Executive Council and member of the Advisory Committee on International Law of the Department of State.

Professor Reisman has served as arbitrator and counsel in many international cases, including the Eritrea/Ethiopia Boundary Dispute and the Abyei (Sudan) Boundary Dispute. His books on International Commercial Arbitration and International Law have been widely read and he also has numerous publications to his name in reputed journals.
