Mr. Fali Sam Nariman is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. He is one of India’s most distinguished lawyers and an internationally recognised authority on international arbitration. He has held the post of Additional Solicitor General of India from May 1972 to June 1975. Mr. Nariman began his law practice at the Bombay High Court and was appointed a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India in 1971, a position he retains till date. 

He has held the post of President Emeritus of the Bar Association of India for over 47 years. He is also an Honorary Member of the International Commission of Jurists; former President of the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA), Member of the Court of the London Court of International Arbitration, former Vice Chairman of International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Honorary President & Advisory Member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration and former Co-Chair of the Human Rights Institute of the International Bar Association. 

In recognition of his work in the legal arena, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1991 by the President of India, the Padma Vibhushan in 2007 and the Gruber Prize for Justice in 2002. He has also been a nominated member of the Upper House of the Parliament of India for a term of six years (1999-2005).
